Submission to UN Special Rapporteur on the Freedom of Assembly and of Association: Peaceful Protests During Crises

Year of publication: 2021

This submission supports the UN Special Rapporteur on the Freedom of Assembly and of Association’s report to the 50th session of the UN Human Rights Council (June 2022) on the protection of human rights in the context of peaceful protests during crisis situations.

This submission addresses the context of Thailand and both socio-political and health (Covid-19) crises. It notes how in Thailand, the socio-political crisis and Covid-19 health crisis have severely curtailed freedom of assembly and continue to endanger those who exercise it.

This submission is a joint submission between Destination Justice, the Human Rights Lawyers Association, Thai Lawyers for Human Rights, and Asia Centre.
